Silence, snow and untouched forest
Snowshoeing is the simplest way into Hakuba’s magical winter backcountry — no experience needed, just a sense of wonder. You’ll float over deep powder into silent forests few visitors ever see.
Your guide chooses the day’s route for the best snow and safety, pausing for hot tea among snow-laden trees. It’s peaceful, gently active and utterly beautiful.

Good to know
None at all — if you can walk, you can snowshoe. Your guide fits the equipment and has you floating over powder within minutes.
From late December to March the forests around Hakuba hold metres of famously dry powder — snowshoes keep you on top of it.
Warm waterproof layers, gloves and a hat — see the “What to wear & bring” list above. Boot rentals can be arranged.
Yes — from around age 6. We adjust the route and pace so the whole family enjoys it.
Your guide reads the conditions daily and chooses sheltered forest when it storms — often the most beautiful days. If it is ever unsafe, we reschedule or refund.
Wonderful — snow-laden trees, deep-blue shadows and fresh tracks. Your guide knows the best light and builds in stops.
